One National Guardsman Killed and Three Hurt During Training Exercise in California
A Mississippi National Guardsman dies during what is being described as a “large-scale training exercise” involving a rolled over tank.
It happened Wednesday at the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, California.
Officials say Sergeant Kyle Thomas was among four soldiers conducting maneuver operations in a tank when it rolled over.
Three-other members were injured during the exercise, but are expected to survive.
The four Guardsmen of the 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team were participating in a two-week training program focused on maneuvering tanks.
Two of the soldiers have been released from the hospital and one remains in stable condition.
An investigation into the cause of the incident is underway.
